What’s the difference between regular and managed hosting?

Regular hosting, like many providers in Iceland offer, gives clients access to a control panel to manage their site. However, it doesn’t include monitoring, setup, or ongoing management. Our hosting provides such management even in the most basic package.

Can I host a WordPress site?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can host a WordPress site in our managed environment. We handle setting up and/or migrating your site into our systems. From there your site is up and manageable, and we provide the services included in your package.

Can I host a WooCommerce store?

Accepted Answer

Yes — just like with WordPress sites, you can host a WooCommerce store in our managed environment.

Question 4

Can I host a Shopify frontend?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can host a frontend for a Shopify store. Whether it’s built by Spaug or another web developer, simply contact us and we’ll find the best way to launch your site. Shopify frontends are often built with tools like React, Next.js, Vue, etc. We recommend consulting our specialists to find the best solution for the site in question.

How can I pay?

Accepted Answer

You can pay with Visa or MasterCard credit/debit cards. Clients with an Icelandic ID number can choose to receive an invoice to online banking on each service due date.

Question 6

Can I move from another host to Spaug?

Accepted Answer

Yes — you can do it yourself by getting a copy of the files that make up your site, which we can then use to migrate everything into our environment. Just make sure the files don’t change after they’re copied, otherwise an older version of your site will be launched on our side.

Question 7

My previous host offered email hosting — do you?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no — we set up and operate email hosting for clients on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, but that’s sold as a separate service and not included in our web-hosting packages.

Question 8

Are disk space and/or bandwidth limited?

Accepted Answer

Disk space and bandwidth are unlimited within reasonable bounds. That is, unless there’s unusually heavy use of one or the other (as defined in the service terms), there are no special caps. It’s best to consult Spaug’s service terms for a clear answer and/or contact our specialists, who can assess whether usage is normal and provide written confirmation.
